Accessible Books Consortium Becomes 50th Library Partner on Dolphin EasyReader App

A major milestone in accessible reading 

Dolphin Computer Access is pleased to announce that the Accessible Book Consortium’s Global Book Service has become the 50th library partner available in the Dolphin EasyReader app. With this partnership, Dolphin EasyReader users around the world will have access to even more accessible books, in formats that support independent reading.

ABC’s extensive catalogue of around half a million accessible books is now available in the Dolphin EasyReader app. It opens the door to even more reading opportunities for people who are blind, partially sighted, dyslexic or have other print disabilities.

ABC - an initiative led by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) - is known for its global focus and dedication to increasing the number of books available in accessible formats, especially in countries where resources are limited.  Accessible formats include DAISY, MP3, ePUB, PDF and large print.

By integrating the ABC Global Book Service into the Dolphin EasyReader app, even more readers will be able to easily discover, download and read books in the format that suits them best – on smartphones, tablets and computers.

Dolphin EasyReader empowers people with vision impairments, dyslexia and other print disabilities read independently, in ways that suit their individual needs and reading preferences. Dolphin EasyReader App is free to download and use, and can be used on a wide range of devices. With the introduction of ABC, 50 library and newspaper services are now available in EasyReader. These cover fact and fiction, children’s stories to academic texts. Connecting readers to a world of accessible reading.

About the Accessible Books Consortium (ABC)

The Accessible Books Consortium (ABC) is a public-private partnership led by WIPO that, together with its many partners around the world, has had real impact over the past decade. Since its inception, the ABC Global Book Service catalogue has quadrupled in size to over one million titles, thanks to the inclusion of the collections of participating authorized entities. ABC delivered a total of 225,000 accessible digital files from the ABC catalogue to persons with print disabilities through its authorized entities in 2024. In addition, through ABC’s training and technical assistance partners, more than 20,000 textbooks have been made accessible in over 40 low-income countries, improving access to education for thousands of young people. ABC was established in June 2014 to implement the goals of the Marrakesh Treaty.
