What's New in SuperNova 24.02

The update to SuperNova 24.02 includes a range of improvements and essential fixes.
These ensure SuperNova remains compatible with the latest updates to Office 365.  

Please note: The fixes and improvements listed on this web page are available in SuperNova Magnifier & Screen Reader version 24.02.
Some features, fixes and improvements listed are not available across all SuperNova editions. 

New and Fixed in this release

The 24.02 update includes a range of improvements to delivering accessibility support for Microsoft 365 rolling updates. 

Improvements for Microsoft Apps 

  • NEW: Support for the Microsoft Phone Link app
    View and manage messages, calls and notifications with accessibility features on your laptop or desktop computer using SuperNova.
    Pair your phone with your computer using the Microsoft Phone Link App which is available from the Windows Store, along with the Link to Windows App, which you should install on your phone.

  • NEW: Support for the Unigram app
    Available from the Windows Store, Unigram is a popular desktop alternative to the Telegram messaging platform. You can now use this app with SuperNova for secure and reliable messaging and group chats. 

  • UPDATE: Read chat history in WhatsApp
    In SuperNova, use the Hotkeys RIGHT ALT + 1 – 9 to read your chat history.
    Type RIGHT SHIFT + RIGHT ALT + 1 – 9 to move your focus directly to a chat history item, and set new messages to automatically read.  

  • FIX:  Hotkeys - Speak Focus and Speak Control hotkeys now read the items you select in the Outlook 365 auto suggestion list. 

  • FIX: Microsoft Teams - Visual tracking of the cursor in the Teams chat message edit area now works as expected when the edit areas change size.

  • FIX: Microsoft Teams -  Notification Windows now announce in full.

  • FIX: File Explorer - Open With dialog now automatically announces when displayed on screen.

  • FIX: Word – UIA (Microsoft UI Automation) Text patterns. SuperNova now reports the location of the beam highlight when it appears on the last character of a line.

  • FIX: File Explorer - Taskbar items now report UIA Help text.
    The number of unread items - such as missed Teams notifications - are now announced as expected when the Taskbar item has focus. 

  • FIX: Windows 11 Settings - The list of Startup Apps in Windows 11 settings now reads correctly when navigated. 
     

Web Browsers

  • FIX:  Chrome and Edge browsers - Multiline edit areas now announce as expected. 

  • FIX: Dolphin Cursor F3 Find - function now works as expected

  • FIX: Line highlighting – Multi-line paragraphs now highlight appropriately. 

General Improvements  

  • CHANGE: Doc Reader - The default view is now image-only view. (The previous default was horizontal split). 

  • CHANGE: SAM (v3.17): Modified windows message security now allows non-elevated client applications to work.  

  • FIX: Magnification Engine settings - Prompt text for the Magnification Engine settings button in the Advanced Options dialog now displays correctly in all languages.

  • FIX: Custom fonts in pre-windows 10 no longer crashes.

  • FIX: Custom Settings folder location now works as expected. 

  • FIX: VNC screen updates within the Whiteboard Assistant Connect and View window now work as expected.

  • FIX: Spreadsheet voice now announces as expected after upgrade to the latest version of SuperNova.
