Before formal interview
We appreciate everyone who chooses to apply, and so we take the time, care and attention to review your cover letter and application. If you have the relevant skills and experience, you’ll be contacted by one of our team within ten working days.
We may contact you on the telephone or arrange a Microsoft Teams video call, for an informal discussion about your relevant experience and skills. This gives you the opportunity to hear more about Dolphin, and the role.
For some vacancies, we might ask for a portfolio of work. Prospective software developers are asked to complete a pre-interview programming challenge.
Interview stage
Following a successful initial call, you will be invited to a second, more formal competency-based interview. This is usually held in person at our offices to give you the opportunity to check out the work space and meet members of the Dolphin team.
The interview process might differ, depending on the role or department, and to make sure we adapt to the candidate’s needs. We make it a priority to ensure candidates are comfortable at the interview stage and we encourage you to meet colleagues, so you and the team have opportunities to ask questions to ensure the position is right for you.
At this second stage, interviews may include some technical or practical assessments. This depends on the role itself but could include a presentation, a written article, a software testing exercise, a psychometric test or a role-play exercise - if you’re applying for a customer-facing job. You will be informed of the assessment in advance, so you have time to prepare.
Post-interview
We want you to feel well-informed throughout the recruitment process, so we’ll let you know the outcome after each stage. We know that constructive criticism is really important for your career path, but due to the volume of applications, we may not be able to provide personalised feedback.
If you are successful, the Dolphin HR team will call you to make a verbal job offer. This is then followed up with a confirmation email, so you have the offer in writing. At this stage we will also contact your references.
