The latest GuideConnect update to version 2025.07 is now available. This release introduces a range of enhancements designed to make everyday tasks more accessible, more intuitive and easier to enjoy. Whether you use GuideConnect to read books, manage your Wi-Fi connection or write emails and letters, you can update your GuideConnect software today to experience the latest features and improvements.
It’s all part of Dolphin's continued mission to improve digital accessibility and support the independence of people with sight loss.
New in GuideConnect version 2025.07
Books & News: Enhancing the Accessible Reading Experience
This release introduces a range of improvements designed to make accessible reading even more enjoyable and intuitive. You can browse books, catch up on the news and explore magazines using the accessibility features in GuideConnect. The latest update means it’s now easier to connect, browse and download books from your favourite accessible libraries.
Calibre Audio Library (UK)
Members of the Calibre Audio Library can now log in directly through GuideConnect to easily access their audiobook collection. This update enhances accessibility, so you have a more consistent and integrated audio reading experience.
Project Gutenberg (Global)
Book cover images are now displayed alongside search results when browsing this classic public-domain collection. This visual enhancement supports accessible browsing by helping users identify titles more confidently.
New: Bookshare Periodicals (USA)
Bookshare members in the United States can now access a wide range of accessible periodicals, including newspapers and magazines, through the newly added Bookshare Periodicals section in GuideConnect.
Windows 11 Compatibility: Improved WiFi Access
GuideConnect now works in line with Windows 11 to display available WiFi networks. This makes it easier to set up or change your internet connection, so you have reliable access to GuideConnect online features including email, internet browsing, radio and news feeds.
This update simplifies digital accessibility and enables GuideConnect users to manage their WiFi connections.
Additional Fixes and Improvements
This GuideConnect release also includes a number of accessibility-focused updates and technical refinements, many of which are based on user feedback:
Czech OCR Fix
All letters are now correctly recognised and read when scanning printed documents in Czech using the GuideConnect optical character recognition (OCR).
Swedish TTS Improvement
The Swedish text-to-speech (TTS) voice has been updated to pronounce the letter 'G' clearly, supporting more accurate and accessible reading in Swedish.
Gmail Sign-in Update
Users can now sign in to their Gmail accounts entirely within GuideConnect, for a more accessible sign-in process.
Dictation Feedback Loop Improvements
An issue that caused audio to loop and distort voice dictation has been resolved, for a more accurate and comfortable dictation experience when using speech to write emails, documents and notes.
How to update to GuideConnect 2025.02
If you have an up-to-date GuideConnect Upgrade Agreement, you will receive this update automatically.
Updating to the latest version of GuideConnect is easy. If you have an active Upgrade Agreements (formerly Premium Plan). The new release will automatically download and will then install the next time you open GuideConnect.
You can check whether your Upgrade Agreement is up to date using the menu options in GuideConnect, simply:

Open GuideConnect.

Select ‘Tools’.
-
Select ‘About’.

Select ‘Check my Upgrade Agreement’.
GuideConnect will tell you whether your Upgrade Agreement is active or is due to be renewed.

If you live outside the UK, please contact the company you purchased GuideConnect from.
Please note: This release will be rolled out to customers in stages over the next few weeks. If you don’t notice any immediate changes, please be assured that it’s on its way.

You can renew your agreement annually, or choose a multi-year plan for long term coverage. If your agreement has expired we recommend you renew it today.
