We are pleased to announce that SuperNova & Dolphin ScreenReader version 25.04 is now available.

What's New in Version 25.04

NEW: Face Position - make video calls with confidence

SuperNova 25.04 introduces Face Position, enabling people with vision impairments to prepare for and join Teams and Zoom meetings with greater confidence.

Face Position harnesses to power of AI to enable you to check how you appear on camera, ensuring you're correctly positioned and that your surroundings are suitable for a professional video meeting.

You can launch Face Position at any time from the ‘Media’ menu in your SuperNova control panel, or by using the layered key combination CAPS LOCK + SPACE, Q, P.

Once opened, simply select your camera, then use either on-screen buttons or shortcut keys to gain information about your video set-up. Options include:

  • Your Position (ALT + P): Checks whether your face is centred in the camera view and guides you to move up, down, left, or right if needed. This option also checks your eyeline to ensure you are looking directly towards the camera.
  • Your Distance (ALT + D): Advises whether you should move closer to or further away from the camera.
  • The Lighting (ALT + L): Checks if the lighting is sufficient for you to be clearly visible on screen.
  • The Background (ALT + B): Describes your surroundings so you can identify any unwanted items visible in the camera view before the call begins.
  • Save Image (CTRL + S): Saves the current camera image for use as a profile picture or reference.

Ask AI for more information

Face Position also includes an Ask AI field, enabling you to ask follow-up questions about what the camera can see. Whether you want a more detailed description of your surroundings or a final check before joining a meeting, Ask AI helps ensure you're ready to participate with confidence.

Please note:

  • Face Position is available to customers entitled to the latest version of SuperNova. If you need to upgrade or renew your Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA), please contact Dolphin (UK customers) or your local authorised Dolphin dealer.
  • Dolphin uses on-device AI wherever possible to power Face Position. However, some features, including Lighting, Background, and Ask AI, rely on external AI services and will count towards your monthly AI usage allowance.

IMPROVED: Saving completed worksheets from Doc Reader

SuperNova 25.04 introduces a range of enhancements to make it easier to export and share documents completed in the Doc Reader. These improvements are particularly useful when working with worksheets, forms and other documents that contain annotations.

  • NEW: Choose a file name when exporting. Exported documents are now easier to identify and organise. When exporting to PDF, Word or Text formats, you can now specify a file name before saving.
  • IMPROVED: Clearer exporting of annotations. Annotations added in Doc Reader, such as highlights, circles and text boxes, can only be preserved when exporting to PDF. To avoid confusion, SuperNova now displays a message when exporting to Word or Text formats, explaining that any annotations will not be included in the exported file.
  • FIX: Opening PDFs after exporting. When exporting a document to PDF, the exported file now correctly opens in Microsoft Edge as expected.

SuperNova 25.04 continues to enhance the accessibility and usability of popular Microsoft applications. These ongoing improvements help you to continue to work productively with the Microsoft applications you rely on every day.

  • Edge: The speech now correctly announces "New Tab" when opening a new browser tab using CTRL+T.
  • Office: The list of suggested files is now announced correctly by the speech when using the search field on the Office home screen, making it easier to find and open recently used documents.
  • Office: The ‘Display Language’ drop-down controls in Microsoft Office applications are now correctly announced by speech.
