EasyReader Help & Instructions
Access PDF files with an EasyReader Plan
You can import accessible Portable Document Format (PDF) files when subscribed to an EasyReader Plan. If no readable text is detected within the PDF file, you will receive a warning message stating you must open the file in another app.
You can read the accessible PDF file using PDF View or Text View.
PDF View shows the original layout of the document including fonts, colours, spacing, and formatting. You cannot change the appearance of the document, and when you zoom in the text will not wrap to accommodate the increase in text size.
Text View simplifies the format of the book. Using Text View enables you to control the appearance of the text including fonts, colours, and spacing.
To switch to Text View:
- Open the PDF file in the Reader. By default, the PDF will open in PDF View.
- Select the "Book options" button.
- Select "Switch to text view".
Repeat the previous steps to switch back to PDF View.
Note: You do not require an EasyReader Plan to download and read PDF files from RNIB Bookshare or Bookshare Ireland. However, if you are a member of one of these libraries, and you wish to import PDF files, then you must be subscribed to an EasyReader Plan.
